My Daily Devotional

God Is In Control

By My Daughter In Law Coria Brock

“Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.”
Genesis 5:24

Most of us know that Jesus said “do not worry about tomorrow”, and I believe that the core reason is that “worry” cannot bring any answer because only He is the answer and the way. I remember once that a person wondered how I was able to plan the best for my son when at the time I had chosen to leave my job and follow what God told me to do. I also remember I responded by asking, who can ever successfully plan for, and stick to that plan, about their own future? We might choose the school for our kids but who can monitor what kind of people they meet or become friends with? Is this negative thinking? I believe this – when my son gets on the school bus every morning, it becomes completely outside of my control. I can bring him to get on the school bus and check on the route but I cannot make sure he is safe. I can watch what he eats and make sure the food is clean and well-cooked but I cannot make sure he does not get sick. I can teach him what is right and show him what to do in many situations but I cannot be sure what he will do in the future. I know that – only God can plan, can create, and can lead him in the exact safe way. This has nothing to do with negative thinking or positive thinking, it’s all about what we believe and most important, who we believe! God told Abram to leave his country, his relatives, and his father’s family, and go to the land that God had shown him to go. God instructed Noah to build the ark and taught him every detail about how and what to do. God saved his whole family when the flood came and made his family grow into many different nations. What do you do if God calls you to go do something? Will you stay in the comfort zone where you think you are in control or will you move forward and do and believe that God is in control? I made my decision, I know how great our God is.
