My Daily Devotional

Your Day Of Salvation

“Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.”
Jeremiah 17:14

Having worked in health care for over 45 years I have naturally been concerned with sickness and have learned much during this time. I believe God cares about our spiritual life and also our physical life. He created the human body, and he is pleased when we enjoy health and vigor, but in this world our bodies endure sickness, pain and decay. Sometimes we abuse our own bodies, and when many of our ailments occur we don’t always understand or know why God has allowed these to happen to us. Jesus healed many people during his days on the earth and people are still being healed today. God still works to heal people in ways that defy medical knowledge, and it is never wrong to pray for healing, either for ourselves or others. The Bible tells us to pray for whatever we need, and that surely includes freedom from pain. But healing does not always occur, even to the most loving, God centered people, and we don’t understand. The Bible promises us that if we are not healed in this life however, that there is something greater waiting for us afterward. We know that our earthly bodies are wasting away each day, but that when we die and leave these bodies, we will have a home in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands. Many of us grow weary in our present bodies, but we will have a new body in heaven that will be without any pain or suffering. Our new body will last forever and will not be subject to decay but will have everlasting life. If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, today could be the day for you to ask Him into your heart, ask Him to forgive you of your sins and that you will make Him first in your life. His greatest gift of an eternal life in Heaven is just waiting for you, a place where there will be no more pain, no more sickness, a place that will last for all eternity. Ask Jesus into your heart today as you are not promised tomorrow.
