My Daily Devotional

Our Hiding Place

“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”
Psalm 32:7

So many times in the book of Psalm’s David called upon God when he was in trouble, and God listened and came to his rescue. When you are faced with trouble and don’t know what to do follow the instructions God also gave Jehoshaphat and his people. The Lord told him to not be dismayed, to calm down, collect himself, and stop trying to figure out the answer. He told him to “Sing to the Lord; praise Him and give thanks to Him and that God would provide for them. After Jehoshaphat told his people they began worshiping God and then went out to meet the enemy. As they went out Jehoshaphat reminded them that they needed to remember the word of the Lord that had come to him and gave this message to him the day before and to not start doubting God’s word. Singing and giving thanks may not seem like the thing to do when you are in trouble and struggling with all the storms and trials in life, but it is exactly what we need to do. Jehoshaphat obeyed God and God gave him and his people the victory over their enemy. This is such good advice for everyone as we need to run to God with our troubles and ask Him for help in our time of need, but we need to thank Him and praise him, before we go out to face our troubles. When we face our trials we need to remain steadfast in our faith, never doubting and always trusting God to deliver us. If we don’t have the trust and faith that God will provide for us, and rely on His Word that he will protect us, we will never experience the victory that He promises. God is our hiding place, a place where we will be comforted, and a place where we will find peace, and a place where we will win the battles that are raging within us. God is our shelter in the storm. If you are dealing with storms and trials in your life today, you too can run to God, and in Him you will find your own hiding place, a place where you will be secure and protected, and also a place where you find your eternal home.
