My Daily Devotional

A Person of Influence

“To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure.”
Titus 1:15

This past year I had several encounters with several of our elected United States Congressmen. This people are very influential gentlemen in Washington, and I was seeking to find out their positions on abortion, prior to the election. Many of you have read some of my previous devotionals about the sin of abortion, same sex marriage, the removal of God from our schools and other Godly values that have been taken out of our nation, and the stand that all Christians should them to abolish these horrific sins. During my conversations with some of them, they stated that there were a lot of influences that were coming to bear on how they would vote, and that they had to take all of these into consideration before they made up their mind. The many times they talked about all of the influences that they had to consider, reminded me of a saying of my grandfather, “If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody’s dog around.” These words are so true as the people we have elected, think that they have so much influence that they can determine what happens to others. So many times in life people are afraid to take a stand for what they know is right, for fear that the influences around them will not be in their best interests. They put their own interests ahead of what they know is right. This is why God tells us to think about others and consider them in the same manner as we consider ourselves. In this situation our elected representatives are placing their own self-interests above the right to life of an unborn baby. There is something so badly wrong in our society that this kind of situation should ever happen. I would encourage each of you to pray for our great nation, its leaders and what they are doing to us. When people get to thinking they know more than God and disregarding the truth of the Bible we are in grave danger.
